Research experience
As part of my undergraduate research experience, I contributed to a research project investigating perinatal phenotyping of mutant mouse lines using home-cage monitoring. Working within the Liu Lab, I analysed behavioural recordings of neonatal mouse pups and dams, developing and applying an ethogram to systematically record behaviours such as nest attendance, nursing and grooming. I gained experience in structured behavioural data collection, video analysis and research software, including BORIS, and developed an understanding of how behavioural data can be used to investigate phenotypic differences. This experience strengthened my interest in research and developed my skills in critical observation, data collection, analysis and working collaboratively within a research team.
