Research leadership

My main interest is child-centred dental research to improve the oral health and treatment experiences of children and their families. I am an NIHR senior investigator and NIHR Regional Research Delivery Network oral and dental specialty lead for the Yorkshire and Humber. Currently I am involved in: 1) Evaluation and implementation of supervised toothbrushing 2) Reduction of child dental anxiety - CALM 3) Other NIHR HTA-funded trials - MiTiGATE, PIP, SCRIPT etc I am on the advisory/steering group for other projects.

I have experience of leading large multi-centred randomised controlled trials, integrating qualitative research into trials and conducting process evaluations. I work on projects including oral health promotion (particularly supervised toothbrushing), behaviour change and dental anxiety in children.
